Pretty terraced cottage near the town with independent shops, cafes and restaurants. Situated between the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales this is the perfect retreat for families.

Beautifully situated in the thriving market town of Kirkby Lonsdale with restaurants, traditional pubs, cafes and independent shops. The town is a short drive into the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, it is the perfect location for lovers of the outdoors with walks available from your front door and it is a great area for cyclists too with lots of cycle tracks and routes in the area. Why not take a picnic down to Devils Bridge on a nice day, enjoy the views and watch the world go by! The first week in September the town hosts a Victorian Fair, which has a real street vibe and there is a market held every Thursday in the town square with some lovely local produce on offer.

As you walk into the property, you will find a dining area with a large wooden table and chairs. Passing the separate WC, you will find the lounge/kitchen. The kitchen area is well-equipped with electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, Nespresso coffee machine and dishwasher. Heading down a couple of steps from the kitchen area you will find the lounge with Smart TV/DVD and patio doors overlooking the tiered garden. There is a cosy wood burner effect electric fire which is a great feature for the colder nights to relax and enjoy. As you go upstairs to the first floor you will find a spacious twin bedroom which can be made up as a super-king-size on request and a king-size bedroom with feature dormer window with views over the fells and surrounding area. Along the hallway there is a bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC, and, a utility area with washer/dryer.

To the rear of the property there is a tiered enclosed garden which has a nice seating area and BBQ and, is a great sun trap and perfect to watch the sun set and enjoy a glass of wine and make plans for the rest of your stay. There is a parking permit for one car.

This was our second visit to this cottage and it didn't disappoint! Everything was clean and tidy, with all of the kitchen tools you would need, including tea towels and dishwasher tablets. The biscuits and pint of milk waiting in the fridge was a nice touch, thank you. Unfortunately, the weather let us down, so we didn't use the garden or patios tRead morehis time. A superb cottage, tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard. It is situated right in the heart of Kirby Longsdale close to all amenities and walks. Fabulous cottage minutes walk from the town centre and Booths for supplies & a lovely welcome pack. Very well laid out with plenty of space for 4 adults with very comfortable beds and views from the double bedroom. Would happily return.

What a way to celebrate our silver wedding. The cottage was perfect 10 out of 10. Ruskin's retreat could win four in a bed. Kirkby Lonsdale was beautiful so much to do. Can't wait to return.

Tucked away in Michelgate, just off the Main Street, Ruskin's Retreat was a lovely, comfortable little bolt-hole, with a nice sunny garden/patio areas. Comfy beds, nice sitting room with bifold doors to the garden and an extra downstairs loo. Always a bonus! Lovely location and the cottage was nice and very comfortable to stay two weeks in with ample room for 4 people and hound. All shops and plenty of pubs within easy walking distance. Lovely morning dog walk along river and a big field and park for ball chucking etc. Lakes and Dales easily reachable by car. WiFi and washing machine/dryer excellent. The cottage is extremely well located in a quiet, pleasant street, close to the main shopping street and to Booths Supermarket. We were slightly worried about parking arrangements before we arrived but we never had any problem finding a convenient parking space in Zone A covered by the parking disc provided. We had a very pleasant stay in this well appointed house. The owners seemed to have thought of everything. Sofas and beds were very comfortable. Lovely views from the garden too. Central position and very easy to unload and load your belongings. The parking permit provided is for street parking and of very little use. Comfortable cottage in a convenient location for all Kirkby Lonsdale amenities. Useful to have a parking permit, although sometimes difficult to find a vacant space. Garden was a good space for two with a particularly lovely view from the top patio.

Fantastic cottage! We have stayed in the town many times through the years but this was our first time in Ruskins Retreat. Ideally situated, a few yards up Mitchelgate, just off the centre. The cottage is in a quiet, yet central, location. The town, supermarket and walks are all nearby so our car was parked and left. Recently renovated, well appointed property just yards from the town centre. Nice outside area to the rear. Unusual layout with good use of space though beware low sections of ceiling in one bedroom.

Accommodation perfect. Every thing you could possibly need and immaculately clean. More than we hoped for and in a central spot to visit the lakes and dales. Plenty of places to eat and drink in Kirkby Lonsdale and all within walking distance. I would definitely go back.

Very comfortable cottage in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale which was spotlessly clean. We had a really relaxing stay and only wish the weather had been better so that we could have enjoyed the lovely garden. Very handy for all the shops / cafes etc and a short drive to the Lakes or Dales. We will definitely be back!

A lovely cottage in a great location- we would stay here again. Very comfy- had no real bother with parking. Very clean. We had our dog with us and found most places to be very dog friendly. Kirkby Lonsdale is pretty and a good base. There are several local walk leaflets provided. We can vouch for Leck Beck! Ingleton is close and worth a look, we hRead moread a great meal at the Falls Bar and kitchen. Lords Salvage yard is a hidden gem if you like that sort of thing. Hide

This is a Tardis cottage; it looks tiny on the outside but inside its really spacious, light, bright and airy. The design is ingenious; it cleverly makes good use of all available space, with lots of cupboards for storage. Decor is tasteful and the huge bed v. comfy. We were absolutely delighted with the cottage. It was very comfortable, well equipped and clean. Although the limited parking is an inconvenience, the cottage is sited within very easy walking distance of all Kirkby Lonsdale shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. We would not hesitate to return.
