Traditional Lakeland stone house, originally the village Post Office, lovingly refurbished, a fabulous base to explore the Lakes and a haven for keen walkers and cyclists. The village pub is within walking distance.

Located in the pretty village of Rosthwaite in the stunning Borrowdale Valley, the village is the starting point of many walks including over the fell to the hamlet of Watendlath. This is a great base to explore the Lakes either on foot, bike, by car, or by bus. There is a lovely circular walk from Rosthwaite taking in Millican's Dalton's Caves. When walking to castle Crag the stepping stones are always fun to cross at drier times of the year. The Coast to Coast and Cumbria Way walks both pass through the village. The local area offers fishing, rock climbing and water sports and there is a spa just three miles away.

As you enter this ground-floor apartment you will find yourself in the cosy lounge with a wood burner, comfy sofa, Smart TV, and window seat if you want to read a good book and watch the world go by. Off the lounge, you will find the bright spacious kitchen/diner, with an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge/freezer. There is a double bedroom which is accessed from the kitchen with an en-suite shower and WC. Head back through the lounge and down a small hallway, which has a traditional tiled floor and space to hang your coats and store you’re your walking boots. The second bedroom follows on through from the hall, it is a super-king-size zip-and-link bed (which can be made into a twin on request) with an en-suite shower and WC.

There is an enclosed shared courtyard, which has cycle storage racks to store your bikes. There is private parking for one car and additional car parking in the village car park which is approximately 200 meters away.

Lovely cottage - well presented, clean and comfortable with a nice welcome box. Very surprising not to have a washing machine given the 4 star rating. The shared courtyard is more of an alley to the parking area - it cant be used to sit out or dry clothes. Road outside is surprisingly busy.

Very clean and well equipped cottage with comfortable beds in ideal area for walking straight from the property. Parking can be an issue especially if you or guests in other properties have large vehicles. The cottage opens straight onto the road which can be busy at times. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

We had a really lovely time in the Old Posthouse. It is in a beautiful setting in Borrowdale with a multitude of walks from the doorstep. The cottage is nicely appointed and very clean. It is right on the road, and the farm traffic does start early but a few good walks should have you sleeping through this! A lovely welcome pack awaited us which waRead mores a nice touch. The cafe in the village is well worth a visit, and there is also a lovely cafe in Grange. We would definitely visit again, thank you. Hide
