Excellent walking, biking and hiking routes are available from your doorstep including the Southern Upland Way and the Reiver Trails or you can enjoy fishing on the River Esk.

After entering the fully enclosed indoor courtyard from the splendid gardens, step inside this welcoming property into the hall. The cottage was spacious, well equipped and very comfortable with fantastic views through living room and bedroom windows. The location is so peaceful and beautiful and perfect for a relaxing break. Fantastic cottage, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The grounds are fantastic for the dogs and full of wildlife. We saw a hare on the lawn and lots of birds. Jan could not have made us more welcome and was happy to share details of local walks. Such a wow factor as you approach the mansion and walk through the courtyard to the cottage which is stunning. The hosts left treats of scones and shortbread on arrival which was a lovely surprise. The cottage had a great outlook with outdoor seating where we could soak in the calming scenery and watching the many birds (including wild pheasant) working their way through the feeders topped up daily around the garden. Lovely time at the cottage , very comfortable , beautiful house and surrounding gardens . We were lucky with the weather so were out and about but if it had been raining we would happily of stayed in and relaxed by the fire and enjoyed the view. Had a fantastic week over Xmas. Gardners cottage was lovely and clean, very comfortable and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The owners are friendly and very helpful. well equipped and clean cottage, lovely grounds and view, good local walks , the stairs are steep , but there are handrails both sides ,so no problem , the welcome tray was really lovely, we would stay again.

A beautiful property furnished in welcoming and cosy style. Absolutely everything you could need, a proper home from home. Loved walking in the grounds with our two dogs, who permanently gazed out the window to get out! It'was lovely watching all the birds at the feeding stations out the window. What a fantastic cottage, we loved everything about it. So peaceful and well kitted out. We didn't get the opportunity to use the BBQ but the people in the courtyard cottage did and it was fab. The open fire was set to light although we didn't use it due to how warm it was. The hosts Jan and Tim were so helpful and friendly, we loved meeting them. Fantastic cottage, part of a Manor house. The property is immaculate, beautiful done and so comfortable. The grounds are huge, plenty of seating at various locations and a dedicated bbq. Nothing to complain about. Even the welcome scones and chocolate were lovely. Local town is 2 miles away and has everything you need. Plus Gretna Outlet 30 minutesRead more and Dumfries 50 minutes. Beautiful luxury accommodation in peaceful surroundings. Everything you could ask for, and more besides were provided. The owners were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Warm scones (home made) truffles, rocky road and brownie bites were a lovely surprise. We will definitely be going back.

This cottage exceed our expectations. The hosts were welcoming and friendly and the surrounds were very picturesque. We would recommend this to anyone as we loved staying here. Some lovely extra touches with fresh scones and dog treats on our arrival.

Lovely cottage with great views over the local hills, it sits in the grounds of a larger house, and we enjoyed seeing the local wildlife (pheasants in the garden every day). The cottage is extremely well equipped, clean and comfortable, in a good location close to the town of Langholm where there are a few shops, two hotels and a takeaway.

This is a very special place which cannot be more highly recommended. We knew it was special the moment we drove through the gates onto the driveway with a picturesque burn running alongside.
