Beautifully finished, bright second-floor apartment, a peaceful retreat for couples or families looking to explore the North Lakes with pubs, shops and restaurants on your doorstep.

The pretty town of Cockermouth is the birthplace of William Wordsworth. It offers the perfect base to explore the Northern Lake District and Western Fells. Within the immediate vicinity, you will find a great selection of independent restaurants, shops and pubs. Close by you will find Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwentwater where you can sail and kayak. For bike enthusiasts, Whinlatter has some great bike tracks. The Roman fort of Deventio can be found just a mile away at Papcastle - you can walk here from the town. Accessed from an external or internal staircase, this fully refurbished second-floor apartment has been thoughtfully finished throughout.

As you enter the apartment into the hallway, you will find a bright spacious lounge with a Smart TV and comfy seating. If you fancy reading a good book, head to the snug - it offers a great space to escape, relax and curl up on the armchair also with a Smart TV. There is a spacious and bright double bedroom which is en-suite with a shower and WC; there is also a family bathroom next door between the bedrooms which has a separate bath, shower and WC. The twin bedroom has two zip-and-link beds and can be made up as a super-king-size on request. At the end of the hallway, you will find the stylish and modern kitchen which is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The dining room wraps around from the kitchen and is open plan; there is a dining table where you can catch up over coffee and breakfast and the snug is situated at the bottom of this room.

There is a small south-facing outdoor terrace with seating which is shared with one other apartment. You are just a short walk from the river and park which is a lovely place to go on a sunny day. There is ample private parking to the rear of the property with EV charging available and secure storage for bikes.

We have stayed here twice now and once in the other apartment. Such lovely accommodation with everything we need and plenty of space. Great location, can be noisy on the Saturday night from the street but we're used to that now. Would highly recommend and will be booking again for sure. We really enjoyed our stay at somserby suite. The apartment was perfect for our family. Liz was very informative with arrival information and near by restaurant etc a few days before we arrived, and was close by if we needed anything during the stay. The apartment is so handy to all facilities in Cockermouth. We felt really at home during our stay Read moreand the added bonus was we could bring the dog. In the 30 years I have been visiting the lakes this accommodation is the best I have stayed in, the apartment is right on the high street and everything thing you need is a few minutes walk. The apartment was in a great central location for Cockermouth. Parking was secure. The apartment was very spacious, immaculately clean and well presented it had absolutely everything we could need . It had a lovely Christmas tree up too. The host Liz, was very pleasant and provided spare chairs for Christmas Dinner. A delightful place to stay in terms of comfort, with calm, relaxing spaces and very well equipped. The amenities of Cockermouth are minutes away (including excellent baker, butcher, fishmonger, greengrocer, bookshop - perfect!) and the lakes and walks nearby. Excellent for a week or longer.

This place is amazing! It has everything you need and is right in the heart of town. It is spacious and even though you are next to the Main Street, there is no noise at all. Parking is secure and the owners are always available to answer any questions you have. I would highly recommend it!

Beautiful apartment in Cockermouth amongst the shops so very convenient- Sainsburys on your doorstep ! Liz was a very attentive owner and couldnt do enough . The apartment is very modern and relaxing , nicely set out with plenty of space . We had a lovely time here and look forward to a return visit sometime ! Would recommend for sure .
