The cottage is located in Great Habton, a peaceful little village featuring a lovely pub and a scattering of houses. Great Habton is set in the rolling Howardian Hills on the cusp of the North York Moors. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1987, the lush pastures and woodlands of the southern Moors play host to grand country houses, atmospheric ruins and handsome market towns.

The town of Pickering is just 6.5 miles away. You can catch a steam train here taking you all the way to Whitby via some picture-postcard villages and stunning scenery. Pickering itself makes for a relaxing afternoon's mosey with its pretty houses, shops and tearooms. Malton has a similar appeal and is 5.5 miles away.

The beautiful market town of Helmsley is a little further on (14.5 miles) but is well worth a visit. A real foodies paradise with some great restaurants, cafes and delis. If you fancy a little pampering, you'll find a fantastic day spa here; the Verbena Spa. Perfect for some rest and rejuvenation.

There is a theme park and zoo at Flamingo Land 3 miles away and Eden Camp, a fascinating modern history museum, is just 4 miles. Castle Howard (7 miles), York (24 miles) and the North Yorkshire coast are all within easy reach too, so lots of choice for fun day trips.

Spring cottage is a great base for exploring Yorkshire - Karen has thought of everything so it really is a home from home. Great for babies and children as well as a travel cot, high chair and toys are provided. Would highly recommended staying here.

This really is a gorgeous cottage! It's much roomier than you might expect, attractive, beautifully styled and wonderfully comfortable, too. If all that wasn't enough, the thoughtful touches found on arrival make a stay here really special - cake, wine, crisps, etc.. The facilities are great, making this cottage a real home from home. The hairdRead moreryer was the first decent one I have ever had the joy of finding in a rental cottage or hotel room! The Wii in the family room (which is roomier than the pictures suggest) kept our pre-teens entertained in down time whilst not out exploring. If we had had younger children there's plenty to entertain them, too. Karen has really thought of everything! The cottage is perfectly placed to explore the moors and surrounding area - York, Eden Camp, Wharram Percy and all those picture perfect villages! We wish we'd stayed longer! Lovely cottage and location. With a large master bedroom, a king sized bed would have been more comfortable.
