Set in a superb location yet just a short drive takes you to the nearby town of Barnstaple, which has an array of things to see and do, the characterful Pannier Market is worth a look and for those looking to walk or cycle it offers easy access to the popular Tarka Trail where you can enjoy traffic free space. Bideford with its maritime connections is an interesting place to visit - where you can hop on the Oldenburg and enjoy a boat trip to Lundy island. Beach lovers are also well-catered for with numerous beaches in the area, including delightful Instow, plus the surfing meccas of Croyde, Woolacombe and Westward Ho! also close by. Alternatively explore the pretty coastal villages of Appledore, Hartland and Clovelly. Exmoor National Park is just a short drive away where you can enjoy fabulous walks and scenery.

Entering this beautiful shepherds hut you will immediately find yourself in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining/sleeping area. In the sleeping area you will find a double bed which can be raised and set into the unit to allow for a dining area, where you can enjoy your breakfast and morning coffee before heading out for a day exploring the area. After a busy day out and about relax in front of the wood burner and plan the following days adventures. The compact kitchen area is equipped with an electric mini oven with a two ring hob and a fridge. For your comfort there is an en-suite shower and WC, providing a comfortable stay in this beautiful rustic environment.

Outside of the property there is a lovely little enclosed patio area with garden furniture, hot tub and BBQ with views of the lake and fields beyond. Guests at all the properties on this site have the freedom to wander the grounds and surrounding fields. There is a lake where you can fish (rods and tackle available).

What a lovely experience! Every little thing has been thought of to make your stay comfortable a luxury hotel level of detail! We want to return in the summer so we can sit outside but even with February rain the hut provided us with joyous shelter.

Great shepherds hut finished to great standard fabulous location we visited different coastlines each day all easy drive 10-30 mins Zena the owner is lovely and very helpful the hot tub was great in the evening after a day out. We will definitely visit again the dogs and ponies are a bonus. 10/10

We had a lovely time at the Burlands, its a beautiful place. The host Zena had thought of everything. If you want to eat at the pub, book before you go, they squeezed us in on the Friday but it does get very busy.

Absolutely amazing place to stay I would recommend it to anybody great scenery fantastic walks around the owner Xena is fantastic extremely caring and extremely thoughtful and her family pets always came to the gate to greet us and walk down to the hat with us it was amazing

Its amazing the owner is beyond helpful .The dogs are so friendly and was really nice having the horses outside the front door if you need to get away this is the place to be !!

The shepherds hut was beautiful inside and out. Very clean and well equipped. The grounds are gorgeous, birds singing from morning to night. The stars of the show have to be the animals, the dogs and cats are very friendly and will go on walks with you, yes and the cat came too! There are 2 small ponies that also roam the grounds. Perfect little short break in Shepherd's Hut No. 2. Loved the menagerie of animals that welcomed us every morning and when we came back after sightseeing. In imperfect British weather, the hot tub was a blessing, And the hut was so well equipped despite its size, we lacked for nothing.

Highly recommended, great value, amazing location, you really feel like your in the middle of nowhere. Facility's are excellent and there are countless little attention's to detail that made it all the more special.
