This family cottage is packed with character and charm, from the thatched roof to the oak beams and impressive fireplace, this retreat will provide a memorable break in this stunning part of the country.

Rutland Water, with its fishing, walking, bird watching, sailing, and cycling attractions is a must-visit when in the area. Birdwatchers will not want to miss the red kites that regularly frequent the skies. The beautiful Georgian town of Stamford is only 5 miles away where you can explore the variety of shops, pubs, and restaurants, and the market too. On the outskirts is the Elizabethan House of Burghley (8 miles) which is open to the public and where the Burghley Horse Trials are held each September. The classic market town of Oakham is 6 miles away in the opposite direction with beautiful buildings, historic sites, and a range of shops and restaurants including a market on a Wednesday and Saturday.

Step through into the beautiful flagstone floored hallway and enter the kitchen. The first thing you will notice is the eye-catching exposed wall and surrounding beams. The kitchen offers an electric oven and hob, steam oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, and washing machine, providing a home-away-from-home kitchen for you to rustle up a memorable meal in or just sit by the window and enjoy the view. Step down into the lounge with its pretty windows and French doors leading out onto the patio perfect for al fresco dining. The wonderful wooden floors perfectly compliment the character of the cottage, so sink into the comfortable sofas and pop on the TV or lose yourself in a good book. There is a downstairs shower room with a shower and WC. The dining room offers a large inglenook fireplace which will impress with its beautiful stonework and features – it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a family celebration meal. Upstairs there is a king-size bedroom, double bedroom, king-size zip-and-link bedroom (which can be made into a twin upon request), and a single bedroom. The family bathroom offers a beautiful slipper bath and WC, so don’t forget your bubble bath.

There is a spacious lawned garden which is enclosed by a five-bar gate and mature hedging. Relax on the patio where you will find a bubbling hydrotherapy hot tub and outdoor seating, perfect for dining alfresco. There is off-road parking for four cars.

This is a charming cottage in a lovely peaceful area, close to so many attractions. The kitchen is well equipped , good wi -fi and period features throughout. Comfy beds and a good size garden. We did not realise the other property in the garden was so close to the main building but this did not spoil our stay. The village is a delightful and a perRead morefect base for exploring Rutland .
