  •  A great location with easy access into the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley and Welsh Borders
  • A haven for walkers with direct access to the surrounding countryside
Property code: 82884

A stylish single storey annexe set in an elevated location where you can enjoy far reaching views across the River Severn. Perfect for couples wanting to explore the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley.

This gorgeous annexe enjoys an enviable location, with stunning, far-reaching views across the horseshoe of the Severn Estuary. Located on the same site as Horseshoe View Cottages and quite literally on the doorstep of the Forest. Just 50m from the property you can enjoy lovely walks, taking in the flora and fauna such as bluebell woods and Highland Cattle in the nature reserve. Deer and wild boar are most likely to be seen earlier in the morning or towards the end of the day. Take advantage of the Forest activities, from miles of cycling trails to suit all abilities, to the River Wye for canoeing and kayaking. For the more adventurous, rock climbing and abseiling are on offer, not forgetting the zip wire and Ariel Adventure park. For those craving cultures and relaxation, Gloucester is less than 15 miles away. Visit the Victorian Docklands, take a stroll through Gloucester Cathedral grounds, and don’t forget the Quays for a lazy lunch and shopping.

The annexe itself has a separate entrance to the side of the main home. The entrance hallway offers space for storing muddy boots and coats and provides access into the main living area. The open-plan lounge/diner enjoys lots of natural light from large, glazed doors; a great space for you to relax on the sofa or armchair in front of the good-sized TV whilst a small table and chairs are perfect for a simple supper for two. The contemporary kitchen is well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. And when the day is done, accessed from the main living space, there is a double bedroom with a good-sized en-suite shower and WC.

To the rear of the annexe, there is a spacious table and chairs together with a BBQ for alfresco summer dining. For cooler evenings, the chimenea or patio heater will extend your time outside and having spent a long day walking, hiking, cycling, or enjoying a myriad of activities offered in the Forest of Dean, why not sit back, and relax for a few hours in the spacious private hot tub. The property is easily accessed and offers off-road parking for one car and storage for bikes.

Lovely cottage and hot tub. We enjoyed our stay here. The hot tub is private and when you leave the cottage and walk to the local pub etc, the views are amazing.

An ideal getaway in one of the best equipped cottages we have stayed in. Hot tub was great for our weary bodies after a day exploring the area. The cottage is detached with a small lawned area and garden making for a very pleasant and peaceful place. Overall an excellent facility for a quiet and peaceful walking break. Only down side was there was no pub within a reasonable walking distance. There are loads of places to visit, and walking trails, with a five to ten minute drive. The hot tub was a brilliant and made our evenings.

We really enjoyed our stay in The Hideaway, Phil and Elaine were very helpful and most welcoming as was the prosecco and chocolates (sorry Phil we ate them all!). It was a strange week as started off with Our dear Queens funeral, it was good to share memories with Phil and Elaine. We would happily return in the future.

The annex is very private but there are no views. The walk to shops and amenities is definitely a mile + with a steep upward walk back. The accommodation is well laid out and very comfortable. Walks in the forest on the doorstep and other attractions not too long a ride away.
