Set in a quiet courtyard in the heart of the city centre, this property is under half a mile from York's top attractions. Walk the city walls, browse the cobbled streets of The Shambles, relax on the grass of Dean's Park or stop for a bite to eat at world-famous Betty's Tea Rooms. Escape the city for a day and head 25 miles north to the breathtaking North York Moors National Park, perfect for blowing away the cobwebs. This area of Yorkshire is also home to a string of charming market towns, including Harrogate (22 miles) to the west and Thirsk (25 miles) to the north.

Inside, a spacious and open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is at the heart of this home. One wall is lined with stylish and contemporary duck-egg kitchen units, topped with chunky wooden work surfaces and every appliance and utensil you could need. Dine at the circular table nearby before settling down for a relaxing evening of TV or film on the cosy L-shaped sofa. Set over the first and second floors, each of the elegant bedrooms has access to its own private bathroom facilities. The large master bedroom boasts a super king-size bed, contemporary oak furniture and a spacious shower room, while the king-size bedroom upstairs has access to a bathroom with overhead shower and wonderful views of the York Minster. There is also a delightful dressing room on the second floor.

Step outside to discover a charming sheltered patio garden, finished with colourful pot plants and a table and chairs for al fresco meals with a view of those famous city walls. Unusually for York, there is a dedicated off-road parking space for one car outside the property.

The jewel in North Yorkshire's crown, we think York is one of the best short break destinations in England. But don't just take our word for it. Voted 'Best UK City' by the Telegraph's travel section in 2008, York is a favourite amongst even the most seasoned of travellers. York topped the Bing 2011 survey as Britain's 'Most Beautiful City', and in Lonely Planet's 2014 Best List, Yorkshire was described as the ‘best place in Europe’ and ‘third best in the world’, to visit.

This ancient walled city has been the north's spiritual capital for 2000 years, but that's not to say it is stuck in the past; York's affluent population and its influx of tourist pounds has helped to create a cultural and commercial oasis. History seeps out of every cobbled street, but the crooked old buildings house a fantastic range of contemporary designer shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

Everywhere in York is easily reachable by foot as this small but perfectly formed city houses most of its main attractions within the city walls. As this property is right on the walls, you don't have far to go to reach all of its many attractions, in fact, it's less than 5 minutes' walk to the Shambles. Middle Ages' town planning means it can take quite some time to get your bearings but finding your way around the labyrinth of warped streets is part of the fun.

If you are looking for outside space in which to relax, you have the choice of a number of parks and gardens, including Dean's Park just around the corner next to the Minster, the Yorkshire Museum Gardens and next to the River Ouse, and slightly further afield, Rowntree Park with its children's playground, tennis courts and bowling green.

A perfect bolt hole 5 mins walk from the Minster & the shops. A bonus is that now there are 2 parking places which make it easier as residents tend to park on the road opposite the driveway & if you have a big car it can be a struggle

Great location, great family time in York. We had all we needed and were entirely comfortable. Showers in particular were great, and could have cooked anything as kitchen well equipped. For somewhere so central, 5 mins top to the centre, it was also quiet. Top holiday, thank you.

Absolutely outstanding. This was our fourth visit. The property is always spotlessly clean and the location could hardly be more convenient.

The best holiday let we have been on EVER. We have been to numerous, supposedly 5* lets, and this one beats them out of the water. Would highly recommend this unique property.

The cottage is in a perfect location with walking distance to all the tourist attractions and to the shops and restaurants. The cottage has everything you need and is very comfortable.

We did come to the same place last year, and hopefully will be coming again next year. Very clean, excellent location, high standard of accommodation. The owner is very helpful, especially in ringing us to advise of road works taking place outside, and giving alternative access details.
