Ludlow is a thriving market town and an architectural gem, situated in a cliff above the River Terme and is surrounded by the countryside of south Shropshire, busy throughout the year with events and festivals celebrating good food, arts, crafts, theatre, walking and the showcase for this being the Ludlow Food and Drink Festival held every September. For keen walkers enjoy the Mary Webb trail, The Shropshire Way and Walks in the Mortimer Forest as well as shorter strolls alongside the river and around the medieval castle. If you have time to escape this vibrant town, there’s much to see further afield, Stokesay castle, Wenlock Priory and Severn valley railway.

We had a very good week staying at Oak House. Such a convenient location, so close to the market square, and good to have a parking permit. The cottage was very well equipped, including very useful walking maps. We had lovely weather so the courtyard garden was used a lot!
