Property code: G0034

A stunning, handcrafted shepherd's hut on the outskirts of the achingly-beautiful Yorkshire Dales, this property provides an unparalleled place to unwind and a base for wider exploration.

Located just outside of a picturesque village, the property is served by a great local pub half a mile away and a number of restaurants in the surrounding area. 3.5 miles away, Richmond market town is home to many shops and historical buildings. Voted one of the top ten places to live in the UK, you can also visit Barnard Castle, a 12.5-mile drive. With its 12th century castle and abundance of cafes and boutiques, it's well worth a trip. For a more natural setting, you are spoilt for choice with hikes and trails to follow. 20 miles away, Arkengarthdale looks and sounds like something out of Lord of the Rings (minus the mythical creatures) and has lots of walks.

One of three lovingly and skilfully crafted shepherd's huts perched around a duck pond, this property is a welcome sight. Combining rustic charm with plenty of modern luxuries, it is an exciting experience for all generations. Taking a few steps up into the hut, you are met with a gorgeous space perfectly proportioned with everything you could need. With light, bright decor and uncluttered design, it manages to be both cosy and roomy. Warmed by electric radiators, there is also a wood burner to give you an extra boost, adding an atmospheric twist. For extra ambience in the evening, you can adjust the mood lighting to create just the right tone. If the weather takes a turn, the hut also has a TV and DVD player so you can keep yourselves entertained and connected with your friends and family. When your tum starts to rumble, the pleasant kitchen space includes a hob, fridge, microwave, kettle and sink, as well as plenty of utensils and eating ware. For meals at home, there is a small dining area alongside the wood burner with views out over the pond. At night, the tailormade bunk beds offer space for two adults below and one above. At the far end of the shepherd's hut is a walk-in shower room with WC.

As you would expect, much of the charm of this shepherd's hut comes with its connection to nature. Outside, a picnic bench affords glorious views over the duck pond and countryside and is the perfect spot for lunches in the sun and romantic evening meals. There is a log burning hot tub, available for hire priced at £50 each day, arranged directly with the owner.

We was a party of 3 adults. We ended up sleeping on the bottom bed, the top bed is no way suitable for adults. Struggled to get on the bed and once on your face is too close to the roof no room for turning over. Overall we had a lovely stay. A very lovely location to spend a holiday and explore Yorkshire. Probably better suited to a shorter stay but longer holidays are fine if you are used to camping or sharing small spaces. The hut we stayed in was certainly functional but due a refit to obtain more than 3 stars.

The Shepherds hut is very quaint, clean & well equipped. It was a bit small for an older couple but we managed. We were really impressed with the beautiful walks & well kept grounds. The location is about right for all the best places in the area and we had a great holiday. When we had a minor fault to report it was dealt with quickly and by a veryRead more friendly member of staff. Hide

The shepherds hut was lovely. Great location, close to lots of lovely little places. The hut had everything we needed. The log burner heated the place up very quickly (as did the electric radiator if you cant be bothered) everything was provided. Nice touches ie packet of biscuits, milk, tea and coffee all there on arrival. Highly reccomend.

The hut was in a lovely location, with only a short walk to the village. Mrs Baker was very informative on arrival and check in was straight forward. There were all amenities needed within the hut and it was clean and in good condition.

It wasn't spacious enough for 3 of us for a week, maybe a long weekend would have been better. Lovely area though.
