Castleton, set in the heart of the Esk Valley, with shop, tearoom and pubs is less than a mile from this Grade II listed bothy. Why not take the train along the scenic railway line to Whitby (17 miles) and spend a day exploring the alleyways and cobbled streets which offer an eclectic mix of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Slightly further afield is the bustling market town of Pickering (21 miles) with its historic castle, Dalby Forest (27 miles) with miles of cycle tracks to enjoy and the beautiful Castle Howard (20 miles). Other pretty market towns worth a visit include Helmsley (21 miles) and Malton which both have a variety of shops and local produce, Malton (25 miles) is fondly known as Yorkshire’s food capital and has regular food fayres. Not forgetting the nearby beaches for you to enjoy.

Head down the path to this cosy little bolthole for two. Step inside, the property has been transformed into a quirky and stylish space that’s perfect for romantic getaways. Prepare meals in the contemporary kitchen area equipped with everything you need to rustle up a delicious dinner including an electric hob/oven, fridge and microwave. There is a neat table for two or take your meal outside and dine alfresco with the views of the rolling countryside. After dinner, snuggle up on the sofa and watch a movie on the Smart TV or take a walk in the impressive surrounding moorland. This is a welcoming space for both summer and winter retreats with high ceiling and traditional Yorkshire stoned flooring. The wet room is finished beautifully with a shower and WC which is warmed with under-floor heating. When night calls, climb the ladder to the elevated hand-crafted oak bed and get a good night’s rest.

Step outside to the terrace, which offers a private space to enjoy a drink or meal at the table whilst enjoying the delightful views and listening to the sounds of the countryside wildlife. There is private off-road parking for one car and nextdoor the sister property to the Bothy, Blakey View Cottage, which also sleeps 2.

This was the first Bothy we stayed in, and must say it was absolutely fantastic. Although its a small space, the interior has been carefully thought out which gives a feeling of space not to mention its been completed to a high spec, with all mod cons. The views and walks are just stunning, and 30 minute drive you are at Whitby or Robin Hood bayRead more, both of which are stunning areas. There are a few local amenities, the local pub does one of the best Sunday roasts Ive had in a long time. In the evening watching the barn owls fly past is a wonderful sight to see. Joe was fantastic, letting us know if we needed anything just to jet her know, and the little welcome gift's were very much appreciated. Would I go back? We had a lovely time staying here. The village is delightful with a very nice pub and a little co-op to get bits from. The bothy is well appointed with an oven, kettle, toaster etc and a very cosy mezzanine bed. Lovely owners who met us when we arrived and showed us round. The Bothy is in an idealistic location with stunning views and great walks from the door. The hosts were very welcoming to us and the dog, we felt they were happy to help with any queries we may have had and gave us some good recommendations for things in the local area. My wife and I found The Blakey View Bothy to be very well positioned in a lovely North Yorkshire village, surrounded by stunning countryside and moors. The space was exceptionally well built/renovated and had the basic kitchen essentials, and a very well received baked treat in the fridge, along with a bottle of prosecco (a lovely gesture). So I booked this cottage for a birthday get away for my partner as it stood out! The hosts were amazing, polite and thoughtful! The Bothy is a little gem in a beautiful location. It was spottlessy clean and had everything we needed for a short break. Jo was a lovely hostess. A beautiful property with beautiful surroundings, perfect location for us and the dogs . Joanne (owner) called to give us all the information we needed regarding the property and the area which was greatly appreciated. I stayed at The Bothy property in Castleton for 3 days and 2 night with my dog. It was easy to find and very beautifully presented; the attention to detail and small welcome gifts were a lovely extra touch. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful supplying me with all the local information e.g. shop opening/closing times, local walks and BoRead morethy appliance instructions. A stunning weekend away. The bothy was very well equipped, location is superb for accessing the north east coast & plenty of walking routes nearby. What a wonderful hidden gem! We have just spent a long weekend and we couldn't of asked for a nicer place. The location was beautiful. As I ate my breakfast outside I had sensational views up to Blakey and along the Rosedale Valley. Such a suntrap, all day. There was plenty of space to lounge around on the grass after returning from a large selection of local walks to viewpoints and surrounding villages and hamlets.
