A wonderful retreat, set among nature, and offering bright and vibrant accommodation for the perfect getaway. Carsington Water is just 8 miles away, with water sports, flat walks and pretty spaces. Ashbourne is just on your doorstep, with lots of shops, places to eat and explore. For walking, Dovedale is extraordinarily pretty, and just over 3 miles away. Set just on the tip of the Peak District, there is Matlock Bath with its stunning limestone cliffs and vibrant seaside vibe sits just a little further at 10 miles, and just a little further Matlock offers unique shops, cafes and riverside walks. The property itself has decking all around it, and is enclosed in an area within the land of the homeowner. There are mature trees and plants, making it a little wild life haven where you can enjoy getting close to nature, and relax in the gorgeous green surroundings.

Inside you are met with a bright and vibrant living space, with lots of colour, comfort and space, with original artwork and beautiful furniture and decor. The dining table and kitchen sit within the living area, making a cosy and intimate experience for anyone staying here. There is a dining table that comfortably seats four people, and two large sofas for you and your furry friends to cuddle up on. There is a master bedroom and also a sofa bed option, making it perfect for either a romantic retreat or for a family or two couples to come away together. The master bedroom offers a king-sized bed, and the sofa bed converts to a double bed. This is a truly dog-friendly space, with fully enclosed outside spaces, no dog-free zones, and lots of additional touches to make everyone feel welcome.

Outside on the enclosed decking, there is seating and a space to eat, sit, relax and enjoy.  You can enjoy watching the wildlife from inside or outside the property, for bird watching enthusiasts the main seating area is like watching from a hive with visits from rare birds and Blue Jay's, Chaffinch and thrush. Many squirrels and rabbits can be seen in the grounds.  The property sits within 2 acres of fields, ideal for walking.

We have just returned with our two dogs from a very relaxing week at the Cow Shed. The accommodation was first class, home from home, with everything we needed. We stayed at The Cow Shed for a week with our two dogs and it was the most dog-friendly holiday accommodation we have ever stayed at. We felt extremely relaxed and so did the dogs. The property is ideally situated a short walk from Ashbourne on the edge of the Peak District. This is an ideal property to visit if you have dogs. We have never been to a property more welcoming and set up for dogs and Victoria was very welcoming. The property is very comfortable and situated close to plenty of places to visit. Perfect dog friendly property for exploring this part of the Peak District. Lovely break away to The Cow Shed. Tesco delivery, amazing welcome hamper, thank you Victoria. Relaxed from the get go. Lots of walking paths and places to visit. Home for us is only 1hr away, but to be based at The Cow Shed allowed us to really explore the local area without heading for home. We couldnt have been happier, we were so grateful to find the most beautiful bolt hole for our trip with three labradors. The cottage was so dog friendly it made our lives so much easier and less stressful, we loved it so much we are already looking at dates to return! Perfect placement for visiting the district too.

Our holiday cottage was exactly what we were looking for. The weather wasn't great but what we expected for early March. We have four dogs and the grounds were ideal for them. We had the perfect stay over New Year; it was so nice to be able to relax with the dog and not worry about where she went. The welcome hamper was beyond expectations, and fed us for almost the whole week! OThis is without doubt the most dog-friendly cottage we have stayed in. Our two dogs were made really welcome, even getting their own welcome pack including their own Christmas crackers. Victoria and Stewart are wonderful hosts (a very generous and thoughtful human welcome pack was also provided!) and are there when needed (but not otherwise!). The Old Cow Shed was the perfect getaway for a couples holiday, Victoria and Stewart were lovely and incredible hosts. The welcome basket was an incredible surprise, we really felt so treated here. On arrival at the cottage we were giving a welcome pack by the owner Vicky including Bread, Wine, Cheeses everything we needed. We enjoyed our stay, no need to worry about our dogs getting on the furniture, they had as much difficulty as us in deciding which sofa to occupy. The property was clean & quirky with lots of lovely touches, we could tell that the owners had gone to a lot of trouble to make us comfortable and were there if we needed them. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cow Shed. The cottage was comfortable & cosy. The owners were exceptionally helpful. We found the location very good, very close to Ashbourne (walking distance) and only 3 miles from beautiful Dovedale and Ilam Park so a good base for exploring the Peak District.
