This stunning property is one of two contemporary stone barn conversions situated up on the hilltop in the picturesque village of Grosmont, nestled within the scenic North York Moors National Park. Grosmont is a charming village that exudes old-world charm and natural beauty. One of the highlights is the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, a heritage steam railway that runs through Grosmont and provides a nostalgic journey through picturesque countryside to Pickering. The village itself boasts traditional stone buildings, cosy pubs, and delightful tea rooms, perfect for indulging in a cuppa and savouring local treats. Outdoor enthusiasts will find ample opportunities for hiking and exploring the surrounding moorland and woodland areas, including the stunning Esk Valley. Spend the day at the seaside town of Whitby (9.5 miles) known for its gothic ruins reached via the 199 steps, cobbled streets and quirky shops. A trip here wouldn't be complete without some tasty fish and chips on the sandy beach.

Escape to this truly romantic hideaway, adorned with stylish interior touches that exude timeless charm. The open-plan living space boasts characterful exposed wooden beams and stone walls, while through the windows lie breathtaking views of rolling pastureland over the valley. The cottage has underfloor heating throughout so you'll always have warm and toasty feet. The modern kitchen is generously equipped, allowing you to indulge your culinary desires, and enjoy breakfast and romantic meals for two at the breakfast bar. The lounge area beckons you with its inviting log burner, perfect for cosy evenings spent together whilst watching a film on the Smart TV or simply stream your chosen music. When it's time to get some sleep, turn in to the beautiful bedroom that welcomes you with sumptuous bedding, ensuring a restful night's sleep. And when it comes time to pamper yourself, the gorgeous shower room awaits, complete with a walk-in shower and WC. This one-bedroom holiday cottage is the epitome of perfection for couples seeking a romantic retreat amidst idyllic surroundings.

Step through the doors onto the flagstone patio, enclosed with a traditional dry stone wall, where you can unwind and soak in the picturesque countryside vistas. Enjoy breakfasts, lunches or romantic evening meals at the table outside, toasting to your Yorkshire getaway.

A very well set up cottage. Even clean windows which we find unusual even when in otherwise excellent accommodation. Top quality workmanship in fitting out the old cow shed.

Beautiful cottage in a fantastic location. Louise and Florian were the perfect hosts, making us feel so welcome at their cottage. Lovely high spec comfortable cottage with attention to detail both in the construction and furnishings. Fabulous all round views of valleys, wildlife and regular stream trains. 10min walk down track to Grosmont Station, pub, shop, cafe (pub provided excellent Sunday lunch) and Esk Valley walks. A superb holiday. Would highly recommend.

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful holiday cottage. A quiet, peaceful setting, with stunning views. The cottage was extremely well equipped and designed and decorated to offer the best creature comforts. The owners were helpful, and friendly. We will definitely be recommending Barn Owl's Nest, and hopefully returning ourselves.

Fabulous location. Lovely property: very comfortable and beautifully presented. Ideally located for any rail enthusiasts with the North York Moors Railway (NYRM) line visible from the cottage grounds at the bottom of the valley. Access to Grosmont on foot is an easy walk down the hill and by road if the water height and flow in the river at the forRead mored below the cottage is low (about a foot or less - there is a marker post), otherwise Grosmont is accessible by car via a slightly longer route.
