This cottage offers a quirky layout which means the property benefits from some rare additions such as two lounges and a games room. The interior design has been well thought out with beautiful furnishings around every corner.

Situated at the top of a steep hill that runs down into Matlock town centre, you’ll find there is host of things to see and do on your doorstep, including an array of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. There is a weekly market, and within easy reach are the gorgeous country houses of Chatsworth (8 miles) and Haddon Hall (7 miles), both ideal for whiling away an afternoon. The Matlock Bath Illuminations and firework display are especially popular with kids and adults alike in autumn. Just a short drive will take you to the nearby picturesque market town of Bakewell (8.5 miles) which lies in the heart of the Peak District National Park and is a delightful place for meandering through the various shops, cafes and restaurants. The cottage is also on the footpath to Lumsdale Falls a local beauty spot.

Step into the cottage, wander through the hallway into the lounge and admire the panoramic views over Matlock and the valleys beyond. Relax on the comfortable seating, switch on the wood-effect gas fire and put your feet up with a good book or catch up on your box sets with the first of two Smart TVs both with Netflix. There is a second lounge with a feature fireplace, comfortable seating, lots of toys, colouring books, reading books, games and a Smart TV, giving everyone in your party space to relax. Head downstairs to the kitchen/diner which benefits from a beautiful high ceiling, wooden beams, and a handy pantry with lots of storage. The kitchen offers a range gas cooker and hob, fridge, microwave and convenient access to the courtyard garden outside. The games room features table football, a darts board with nearby bar stools and a table to sit and watch the competitive fun. This space also offers a useful utility area with a freezer and washing machine. Also on this floor is the downstairs WC. Going up to the first floor, you will find a beautiful bedroom with a king-size bed, high ceiling, wooden floorboards and plenty of space to store your clothes. The nearby bathroom has a shower over the bath and a WC. The next bedroom offers fun bunk beds. Heading up to the second floor there is a beautiful room with a king-size bed, there is statement lighting and outstanding views as far as Riber Castle to wake up to. The upstairs space is lots of fun with cubby holes great for hide and seek and the laundry shoot which is a small hole that runs from the bathroom down to the kitchen, great for throwing teddies down and there is even walkie talkies ideal for communicating between the top and lower floors.

Directly off the kitchen is a small enclosed patio with bistro seating, accessed via some steps down is the courtyard garden with festoon lighting which offers a pleasant open space to sit and enjoy the fresh air, this area is not enclosed. Head down some more steep stairs to access the garage and parking space, suitable for a small car. The secure empty garage offers plenty of space for bikes, motorbikes, canoes and boats, for those who enjoy some of the many past times in the beautiful Peak District. There is on-road parking to the front of the cottage (subject to availability).

A spacious property over four floors, provided a really comfortable base for the week. It really was a home from home, absolutely everything provided, and a generous welcome basket to greet us. Beautiful house, lovely decor and pieces of furniture. We really enjoyed our stay here. House is over four floors (may be tricky for anyone with mobility issues). Great views from the rear. If you have a dog/small children, the only enclosed part of the terrace is a very small section by back door (great spot for morning coffee though). Main terracRead moree is shared with the neighbour and has road acess via steps with no gate. Parking is roadside, unless car is very small and fits by/in garage. Hide
