Traditional Lakeland cottage, with stone feature walls, beams and lots of quirky features, the perfect hideaway for a couple discovering the Lakes.

In the centre of the small fell village of Uldale, this cottage is part of a 17th-century Yeoman’s house. A great base to explore Bassenthwaite Lake and the Lakes Distillery just 4 miles away, and Keswick and Derwentwater 11 miles. The market town of Cockermouth, which was the birthplace of Wordsworth, is just 8 miles away. Walk the Cumbria Way (11 miles away) and the magnificent fells and peaks of Skiddaw and Blencathra (9 and 17 miles respectively). For outdoor enthusiasts, there are opportunities to enjoy mountaineering, rock climbing, horse riding, paragliding, hang gliding, canoeing, kayaking and sailing in the area. Or enjoy a visit to The Theatre by the Lake in Keswick, where there is also a cinema.

The entrance to this property is through a large porch and opens into the open-plan lounge/dining/kitchen area. There is a direct view of Binsey and the surrounding fells from the lounge window. The cosy lounge has comfortable seating and a Smart TV with Sky Q. There are beams and stone wall features which all add to the character. There is a round glass topped table in the dining area, which will easily sit two. The kitchen has an electric hob and oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, and the oil Aga provides some welcome background heat in the winter months. Climbing the cottage style staircase, you will find the bedroom with its king-size bed and an en-suite shower room with a shower and WC. The second-floor mezzanine level overlooking the bedroom has a single bed and a comfortable chair to relax and read some of the wide selection of books on offer.


There is a lovely private raised and enclosed garden with views over the surrounding fells and fields. A lovely spot to sit out on a summer’s evening to dine alfresco and enjoy a glass wine or have a coffee. There is private parking for two cars.

Beautiful peaceful place, perfect for little family. Well equipt, there is everything there you could possibly need. It felt like home, we've had much needed relaxing 7 days in the cottage. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends. We will be back soon.

Warm and cosy with everything you need. Comfortable beds. Immaculately clean. Nicely set out and decorated. Beautiful setting and easy to find. A pleasure to come home to after a damp day out.

Lovely cottage in a quiet rural farming village a short drive from Keswick. Location is great because it is out of the tourist hustle and bustle but all the attractions of the Lake District are in easy reach. A bus goes through the village if you don't have a car. Beautiful cottage in a fantastic location away from the crowded areas in the lake district. The accomodation has everything you could possibly need and the owner was friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay in your beautifully cosy cottage. We loved the warmth of the Aga especially as we arrived rather late at night. It was very peaceful and we were able to relax straight away. It was very well equipped and everything was easy to use. Altogether a blissful few days.

Lovely little cottage on the northern edge of the Lake District. Perfect if you want to explore Bassenthwaite and the nothern fells. The cottage is perfect for a couple and a dog. The owner is very friendly and helpful, and the cottage had some great leaflets with walks, including a great booklet for walks with dogs in the area.

Fabulous little cosy cottage, away from it all location. Big bonus was having the Aga lit ready for our arrival. Wonderful food at The Snooty Fox and Maes tearoom is a little gem. Loved our time there.

Cosy, warm and well equipped, lovely rural area. Very peaceful, our dog is a rescue dog and has problems relaxing but he had no problem relaxing at Wellbrow.

We really enjoyed staying at Wellbrow and would certainly recommend it to friends and family. Uldale is a lovely village and the cottage is perfectly placed for walking in the northern Lakes. The cottage was comfortable and cosy. We'd thoroughly recommend it.

An absolute gem - this is a beautiful cosy cottage in the perfect location to explore the Northern Lakes. Great walks from the cottage and Bassenthwaite lake is only 4miles away. A beautiful garden which was ideal for our dog and for us to enjoy the views. The owner was so welcoming and there is a great friendly local pub too.
