Wordsworth House and Gardens are just a five-minute walk away, take a walk along the River Derwent or visit the Jennings Brewery in the town. The Lorton Valley offers walks around Loweswater, Crummock and Buttermere lakes and the surrounding fells, including the famous Brackenthwiate Hows which Turner painted in 1797. In the summer, you can catch a complimentary bus to beautiful Buttermere from the town. Walk from the centre of town onto the top of Watch Hill for a fabulous view across the Solway Firth to Scotland, or south to the hills and the northern valleys. Or, why not try out some of the bike tracks in nearby Whinlatter Forest?

This place was a clean, well-equipped place to stay with easy access to the Lake District for various activities. There are multiple shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs nearby.

Lovely clean apartment with quality fittings more a home from home and the owner is always at hand and very helpful. Its only a 5 minute walk into town and along the riverbank would recommend this to anyone.

We loved the location: walkable to a good selection of restaurants and pubs as well as a choice of supermarkets. The apartment itself had a well equipped kitchen and was very clean.

Lovely cottage, exceptionally clean with everything you need for a good holiday. Owner is very friendly and happy to help. Located a short walk from the local town, where there is a good selection of places to eat. A nice walk along the river is very close by. Only thing to be aware of is that to access the parking space you need to reverse down thRead moree side of the cottage between the cottage wall and a fence. The apartment was spotless when we arrived. The owner was very helpful when we phoned him before we arrived. The apartment was not getting used on the Friday night so we managed to stay there instead of a Travelodge or Premier Inn as we intended. All in all we would recommend staying there again.

This lovely accomodation is highly recommended not only to discover one of the most interesting towns in the Lake District, but also a gateway into some of the most spectacular scenery in the Lake District. Its away from the crowds if you want a more restful visit! the accomodation and owner are a sheer delight
