This delightful property forms part of a spectacular Georgian residence, boasts beautiful water views, and has been purpose fitted and furnished to provide a comfortable Cornish retreat.

Perfectly situated on the banks of the River Fowey, the property is close to the ancient port of Fowey. The coastal village of Polruan is a short drive away, with a passenger ferry linking the two. Only slightly further afield, days out can include trips to Looe and Polperro to the east, and Mevagissey to the west. Pretty Lostwithiel is also well worth a visit and here you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to boutique interior shops and antiques emporiums. Walkers will be in their element due to direct access onto a public footpath, and the South West Coast Path nearby. Other attractions accessible from here include the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Charlestown and numerous National Trust properties.

Stepping inside this unique property into the entrance hallway. Kick off your shoes and enter the beautiful and light open plan kitchen/lounge/diner with stunning estuary views from the French windows and across your veranda. This great multifunctional room boasts a TV, DVD and wood burner, and offers cosy sofa seating, alongside a dining and kitchen area. The kitchen itself is well equipped and offers an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Completing the ground floor facilities there is a useful separate WC. Heading up the stairs you will find the stunning bedrooms, the first of which is a spacious king-size with lovely estuary views. The other bedroom is an attractive single bedroom with an additional single pull out bed (which can be used to accommodate an additional guest). Located at the rear of the property there is a beautifully appointed bathroom with shower over the bath and WC.

Stepping out of the French doors you will find a delightful riverside terrace looking out over the Veranda  and the stunning Fowey estuary with garden furniture providing the perfect place for alfresco dining. There is shared pontoon onto the estuary for guests use. Private off-road parking for two cars is provided. (The veranda is designated for the sole use of Captains Cottage, however, occupants of the other properties have access along the side of the veranda in order to access their properties).

Wonderful location, loved the peace, the terrace for breakfast in the morning sun and the fact we could walk out from the property to catch the ferries across the water and back.

Had a really relaxing, peaceful holiday- was so comfortable and love the views of the river. Great being able to moor our boat on the pontoon- got used to going out and about around tide times and it really wasnt a problem. Will definitely book again.

This is a stunning location. A constantly-changing canvas viewed from the verandah.. WiFi problems mentioned in an earlier review were sorted. Great holiday and fab views! Great to have a welcome pack which includes fudge, biscuits, chocolate and treats. It was great to also have a cleaning pack with a dishcloth, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets so no need to bring these. Washing area was really useful too. Very well equipped (apart from the t.v. not working) and beds exceptionally comfortable. We have stayed here about 7 times in the past and were surprised by the alterations to bathroom but it all worked well. The views are still to die for.

We absolutely loved staying in Captains Cottage, Kits House! The location being the opposite side of the river from Fowey meant that it was very quiet and was perfect if youre looking to relax.
