Short breaks and self-catering accommodation in the Cotswolds

All around the world, when asked to describe England, people overseas will probably begin by describing the Cotswolds. Green hills, lush woodlands, blue skies, rushing streams and thatched stone cottages characterise the region and fulfil the vision of the English countryside. With walking and cycling trails galore, beauty spots and honey coloured brick villages, an escape far away from the daily grind and the routines to the Cotswolds is all you need. The further away you go from the throngs of people and built up areas, the better we all feel, and you can achieve a sense of well-being when you visit this verdant and rich region at the heart of England.

Life in the fast lane is a rumour in these parts, although you can up your speed slightly at events like the Cheltenham Festival where the whole place goes mad for horse racing. For trekkers, there are some of the best-preserved battlefields and hill walks in the country. The Cotswolds is almost naturally ordained to provide one of the most languid and inviting backdrops to a quiet romantic break for two. Hide away, sink into bed and sleep in late; sometimes all you need is a lovely place to rest, recuperate and rewind.
